Christmas is never complete without the Christmas treats! These sweets taste ten times better when it is done together with your family and friends. Here are some of the best treats you can make that will surely capture the spirit of Christmas. 

Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread cookies are the most common cookies baked on Christmas plus it is super fun to make! You can let your children help and decorate their own gingerbread man! 

You will need the following ingredients: softened butter, sugar, molasses, egg, vanilla extract, all purpose flour, ground ginger, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, kosher salt, and finely ground black pepper. Some of the optional ingredients are grated fresh ginger and zest of orange. Lastly, sugar cookie icing for decorating.

Put the butter, brown sugar, and molasses until fluffy and then after two minutes, add the egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk the flour, spices, baking soda, and salt until combined. Afterwards, add the dry and wet ingredients and then add the orange zest and fresh ginger, and black pepper with the mixer on low, make sure to avoid overmixing and stop when dough forms. 

Separate the dough into two disc and chill it for about 2 to 3 hours. Preheat the oven for 350 degrees and line two large baking sheets. Place one disc of dough on the surface and then cut the gingerbread men with a cutter and then transfer it into baking sheets. Bake it until slightly puffed and then let it cool. Repeat the steps with the other disc and then start decorating the gingerbread men!

3-Ingredient Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies will definitely capture the hearts of the kids! To create a lot of these cookies, you may only use these three simple ingredients: softened butter, granulated sugar, and all-purpose flour.

First you should preheat the oven in 325 degrees. Grab a large bowl,  using a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until it becomes light and fluffy, then stir in flour. 

Form the cookies as 1” balls or however you like and then place them on a baking sheet two up to three inches apart since cookie doughs spread wide when baked. Bake them for 15 to 17 minutes and then you can decorate them afterwards.

S’mores

Aside from being a camping food, s’mores are also the best treat to eat with your family on a cold winter night. S’mores only need three classic ingredients but produce one ultimate treat. 

The original s’mores ingredients are: marshmallow, graham crackers, and chocolate of your own choice. Break the graham crackers and form symmetrical squares and place square of chocolates on the graham squares. Roast the marshmallow using a skewer stick and transfer it to the cracker and chocolate combination and top it with another chocolate and graham combination.

On the other hand, you can also utilize the air fryer. Put the three ingredients altogether and then place it inside the air fryer and cook it for 4 to 5 minutes in 390 degrees heat.

Classic Christmas Eggnog

Eggnog can never be absent, especially on Christmas Eve! Eggnogs are as best as hot chocolate but with a punch. You will be needing milk, ground cinnamon (more for the garnish afterwards), ground nutmeg, pure vanilla extract, large egg yolks, granulated sugar, heavy cream, whipped cream, and bourbon or rum but it is optional if you want some touch of alcohol. 

To make the classic eggnog, in a small saucepan, put milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla together and gradually bring the temperature on low. In another large bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar until the color turns pale, gradually add the egg yolks and whisk it until it is combined. Back to the mixture in the pan, cook it and wait until it is thick and then remove it and then stir it with heavy cream. After chilling the drink, garnish it with cinnamon and whipped cream. 

Eggnogs are still at its best even without alcohol. For the adults, you can add whisky or rum to add a little bit of booze.
